BACKGROUND AND QUALIFICATIONS
With nearly thirty years experience in the field of publishing, I have been involved in many aspects of the industry. I have hands-on experience in virtually every phase of book production, from editing to design to production supervision. Currently my associates and I are handling the production and layout of approximately 40 to 50 titles per year.
Editorial
Supervise copyediting; work with authors and/or acquisitions editors to answer copyeditors queries; prepare style sheets; write design memos; approve design specifications, layouts, and sample pages; typemark manuscripts; work with typesetters; supervise the work of proofreaders, illustrators, computer graphics professionals; dummiers, photo researchers, and indexers; assemble authors and proofreaders alterations and answer related queries; supervise page makeup; check galleys, dummies, page proofs, blues and/or color proofs, as needed.
Design
Book and brochure designwrite type specs and prepare sample layouts; typemark copy/manuscripts; dummy and page makeup either traditionally on mechanicals or electronically on disk; size photos and artwork; render technical line art; design and prepare mechanicals for book covers and brochures. Specialized in electronic layouts for one-, two-, and four-color books on the Macintosh using QuarkXPress. Skilled in photo and screen shot processing in Adobe Photoshop.
Production Supervision
Purchase and coordinate composition, four-color separations, paper, printing and binding; check proofs; estimate costs; maintain schedules and budgets. Supervise freelancers.

Coordinate production and packaging of publications from manuscript to print. Provide copyediting, proofreading, design and layouts, illustrations, photography and photo research, typography, four-color separations, printing and binding, using traditional and electronic (desktop) publishing methods. Supervise large group of freelance professionals. Provide production and editorial services in foreign languages (including Spanish, French, Italian, and German).
